landscape CARE THROUGH CREATIVITY
We design & nurture two landscape typologies; the Neighbourhood, local to Hackney, and the Field, landscapes from afar, with learnings and value to bring back home…

FIELDS PROCESSes:
-
As a starter for ten, we offer a fast, agile assessment of existing, iterative or emergent landscapes.
Undertaken for a small, commitment-free fee, a Field Review makes management, care and speculative recommendations.
-
Based on the outcome of the Field Review, we then draw on Neighbouring Fields’ specialisation; landscape concept and strategy.
Together with you as the landscape’s custodia, we work to design and agree a way forward across all scales and timelines.
-
We’re get very excited when a design concept moves off the page and into the living, breathing landscape!
Neighbouring Fields manages and implements the physical and ecological processes needed for the agreed design. This includes planting design, procurement planting.
Landscapes of all scales take time and care to come to life - Neighbouring Fields will be present throughout this ride!
fieldS of practice:
Although we’re Landscape Architects, Neighbouring Fields’ designs never start with a form.
We start with a force, knowing that every potential site holds an underlying logic, ecology, history and material. We take on the task of finding these, and with care and creativity, make them visible.
Neighbouring Fields works across all scales and contexts. Whilst landscape briefs and sites constantly change, the approach remains constant.
We start with a Field Review; analysing place carefully, understanding what it already holds. Working with each client, our designs and outcomes amplify what is already there, as well as introducing new forces to awaken other waiting processes.
A garden, a park, a forgotten corner of infrastructure; all sites Neighbouring Fields treat with the same curiosity and rigour.
The Neighbours:
The Neighbours:
Literally ‘Neighbouring’ one another along the length of E8’s Queensbridge Road, Juan & Sam, as founders of the Studio, develop landscape potential across Hackney and beyond.
We operate in the literal ‘Neighbouring Fields’ of practice to the by now mega-industries of Landscape Architecture or Garden Design, becoming specialists in the sites, gardens or outdoor spaces others might well overlook…
Together with our ‘Neighbours’, as trusted friends and colleagues, we’d love to hear about your landscape…
FIELD EXPERIENCE:
We understand that as an emerging practice, we need to offer credibility, justifying our thoughts and existence, and of course, fees!
Together with our listed projects, we hope our past experiences will do some of the talking. If not, let us know below in the contact section below:
Juan is a registered Architect from the Universidad de Chile. He practiced as a Landscape Architect in Chile across a wide range of scales and project, working from concept development through to construction.
Due to his academic excellence and professional achievements, he was awarded a Chilean National Scholarship to pursue a Master’s in Landscape Architecture at UCL in the United Kingdom.
Following graduation, he worked on projects across London and Cambridge for award-winning Landscape Architect’s J&L Gibbons before founding Neighbouring Fields.
Sam is an emerging Landscape Architect and Creative Project Manager with a broad, cross-disciplinary background founded in multi-scale design, production and promotion.
Having also studied the Bartlett School of Architecture, during which he earned three Landscape Architecture awards, including the overall MLA Bartlett Medal and Environmental and Technical Design Prize, he has recently concluded a tenure at Foster + Partners, working on Oxford’s Ellison Institute of Technology suite of projects.
